This is the online version of the Abadoned Greatwork documentation.

This page is built from the latest code on GitHub. It may describe newer features that you may not necessarily have, even on the latest Modrinth/CurseForge version!

Entries which are blurred are spoilers. Click to reveal them, but be aware that they may spoil endgame progression. Alternatively, click here to get a version with all spoilers showing.

I devote this section to the magical and mysterious items I might encounter in my studies.

Truth CrystalTruth Crystal

One of the relics left by ancient hexcasters is the Truth Crystal. These mysterious crystals appear to have been used as testing tools — designed to evaluate the skill of an apprentice by challenging them to produce specific spell patterns.

A Truth Crystal contains a riddle with a description, and a length limit for submitted patterns. The aspiring hexcaster must solve the riddle to discover the correct pattern list.

To attempt a riddle, place the Truth Crystal into a Truth Crystal Base, then right-click the base while holding an Iota-containing item. The crystal will evaluate your spell and judge the result.

If successful, the crystal will be consumed and a reward will be granted from a loot table specific to that crystal.

Knowledge lies buried in history, wisdom cast aside in the dust of ages.

The glory of ages past now lies in ruin — today's works shall share this fate.

Blank SlateAbandoned Greatwork

The ancients left behind, and those who come after follow. I am neither the first Hex Caster, nor will I be the last.

Across the world, ruins left by ancient Hex Casters are scattered about. Though abandoned and cast into the mundane world, these structures still reflect the glory and brilliance they once held as Greatworks.

It seems the Hex Casters of old also created a special material to test the skill of their apprentices. Those who passed the trial would receive a reward.

Unfortunately, my records on this are not yet detailed enough. I should conduct more in-depth research when the opportunity arises.

A list of all the patterns I've discovered, as well as what they do.

Eye of TrackingHex Eyes

Spotlight inventory slot Eye of Tracking

An Eye of Tracking chases the target creature relentlessly. Once it reaches a spot above it, it hovers for a while and then shatters.

Spotlight inventory slot Eye of Waypoint

An Eye of Waypoint flies to a chosen place and hovers there, marking the spot. Once it arrives it lingers a while, then breaks with a burst of light.

Summon Tracking Eye (vector, entity →)

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: qqqqaqwawawwwqded

Takes a vector (summon position) and an entity (target); summons an Eye of Tracking at that position, which takes that entity as its target. Costs a charged amethyst.

Summon Waypoint Eye (vector, vector →)

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: qqqqaqwawawwweddwaa

Takes two vectors (summon position and destination); summons an Eye of Waypoint at that position, which flies to the destination coordinates. Costs amethyst dust.

Truth CrystalTruth Crystal Patterns

Crystal Analysis

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: qqqaqw

Crystal Gazing requires a Truth Crystal held in the offhand. It consumes no media and displays the detailed information stored within the crystal in chat. Takes no input and produces no output.

Themistian Purification (list → list)

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: awaq

Truth Crystals demand strict output ordering. This pattern takes a list, rearranges its elements according to an intrinsic ordering, and returns the sorted list.

CompassExploration Patterns

Locate (vector, biome|structure →)

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: qqqqaqwawawww

Takes a Biome Token and summons an Eye of Locating that flies toward the target biome or structure. Costs a charged amethyst.

Spotlight inventory slot Eye of Locating

An Eye of Locating, thrown like an Eye of Ender, flies a short distance, then hovers and searches the surroundings. If it senses the target biome or structure nearby, it turns to face it. After a while it shatters — or, more often, drops back as an item still bearing its target, ready to be thrown again.

Random Target (→ biome|structure)

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: wwwawaeqqqq

With equal odds it picks a random biome or a random structure, returning it wrapped as a Biome Token. Paired with Locate, it begins a journey of serendipity.

Current Whereabouts (→ biome)

Your browser does not support visualizing patterns. Pattern code: qqqqeawa

Returns a Biome Token of the biome the caster currently stands in. Sometimes mishaps happen.
